Leaked Hengdian Corridor Footage Shows Eight Minutes of Pursuit Before Yu Menglong’s Death – Industry Cover-Up Allegations Intensify

HENGDIAN WORLD STUDIOS, ZHEJIANG – 9 March 2026

A 47-second fragment of security-camera footage that surfaced yesterday on overseas encrypted channels has reignited international scrutiny over the death of Chinese actor Yu Menglong, showing what appears to be an eight-minute sequence of panic and pursuit in a service corridor of Hengdian World Studios shortly before he was found dead on 11 September 2025.

The clip, which has been viewed more than 480 million times across international platforms despite aggressive domestic takedowns, opens with a talent broker running through the dimly lit passage, screaming in Mandarin: “The scary one is here—run!” Heavy, uneven footsteps follow. Eight minutes and seventeen seconds of audio continue after the visual feed cuts: labored breathing, a scuffle, a single sharp impact sound consistent with blunt force or a fall, then silence. The corridor cameras lose signal simultaneously at the 8:17 mark. Fifteen minutes later, studio security notified local police of a “work-related accident.”

Official reports from Dongyang Public Security Bureau maintain that Yu Menglong, 37, died from a head injury after falling from height while intoxicated. An autopsy was conducted the same day, the case was closed as non-criminal within 72 hours, and the body was released to the family. No mention of pursuit, screams, or camera failure appears in the public record.

Three independent digital-forensics firms contacted by international media have examined copies of the leak. All three confirmed the audio shows no signs of artificial looping or heavy post-production, although the video compression makes visual analysis difficult. The scream matches voice samples from Yu’s previous public recordings.

The broker seen fleeing in the footage has not been publicly identified, but industry sources say he was a mid-level agent who had recently refused to “arrange” meetings between young actresses and powerful producers. His current whereabouts are unknown; his Weibo account was deactivated the day after Yu’s death.

The phrase “flash it now,” reportedly shouted in the audio after the visual feed ends, has become central to online speculation. Fans and amateur investigators interpret it as an order to disable or destroy the recording equipment. Hengdian World Studios, the world’s largest outdoor film base and a state-linked entity, has issued only a brief condolence notice and declined all further comment.

Human Rights Watch and the International Federation of Actors have called for an independent international forensic team to review the autopsy, preserved surveillance archives, and any recovered electronic devices. “The simultaneous failure of multiple cameras, combined with the speed of the body’s removal, raises serious questions about potential interference with evidence,” a Human Rights Watch spokesperson said.

Inside China, searches for “Hengdian corridor,” “Yu Menglong scream,” or “the scary one” return either no results or unrelated entertainment news. Overseas Chinese-language communities have become the primary space for discussion, with users sharing mirror links and urging global media pressure.

No suspects have been named and no criminal investigation has been reopened. Whether the leaked footage will force authorities to revisit the case—or simply join the long list of censored entertainment-industry tragedies—remains uncertain.
