In a dramatic development on Capitol Hill, Rep. Robert Garcia, Ranking Member of the House Oversight Committee, delivered a sharp and direct accusation against billionaire Les Wexner, labeling him as the key financial backer who enabled Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activities. Garcia’s explosive statement came moments after a lengthy closed-door deposition with the 88-year-old retail magnate at his estate in New Albany, Ohio.
Joined by fellow Oversight Democrats — Representatives Jasmine Crockett, Stephen Lynch, Rashida Tlaib, Yassamin Ansari, and Dave Min — Garcia emerged from the nearly six-hour session on February 18, 2026, expressing strong skepticism about Wexner’s testimony. The California congressman stated plainly that no individual played a greater role in supplying Epstein with the resources to commit his crimes than Les Wexner.

“Today’s deposition made one thing clear: There would be no Epstein island, no Epstein plane, and no money to traffic women without the financial assistance of Les Wexner,” Garcia told reporters. He highlighted extensive financial ties, including large transfers, stocks, and direct support flowing from Wexner to Epstein over roughly two decades, beginning when Wexner hired Epstein as his financial manager in the 1980s.
Democrats described portions of Wexner’s account as lacking credibility, noting that the billionaire downplayed his personal relationship with Epstein and claimed he had been “conned” and knew nothing of the wrongdoing. Garcia and his colleagues pushed back firmly, insisting the evidence points to deep financial enablement that sustained Epstein’s operation for years.
Beyond the pointed accusations, Garcia extended a clear invitation to the public. The Oversight Committee Democrats are actively calling for anyone with credible information about the Epstein case to come forward. “We’re ready to talk to anyone,” the message emphasized, signaling an expansion of the investigation that already includes subpoenas issued to Wexner, Epstein estate executors Darren Indyke and Richard Kahn, and other associates.
The session marks a significant step in the committee’s bipartisan-initiated but Democrat-driven probe into Epstein’s network and the federal government’s handling of related files. Garcia has stressed that the focus remains on following the money trail and ensuring accountability for those who enabled the abuse of women, regardless of wealth or status.
As public interest surges once again, this latest development underscores growing pressure on powerful figures linked to Epstein. With additional depositions and potential hearings on the horizon, Rep. Garcia and Oversight Democrats appear determined to uncover the full truth and deliver long-overdue justice for survivors.
The American people continue to demand transparency, and this congressional effort shows no signs of slowing down.
