Leaked Security Footage Shows Tense Confrontation Between Yu Menglong and Han Yuchen Hours Before Actor’s Death

BEIJING / INTERNATIONAL – 10 March 2026

Newly leaked security camera footage from a private venue in Beijing has intensified scrutiny over the death of actor Yu Menglong, showing what appears to be a heated confrontation with fellow actor Han Yuchen just three hours before Yu was found dead on 11 September 2025.

The 47-second clip, which surfaced on overseas platforms in the past 48 hours, shows Yu standing with visibly tense shoulders and a downturned gaze as Han Yuchen leans in aggressively, his face contorted with apparent anger. Although the audio is muffled, lip-reading experts and fan communities have claimed to identify heated exchanges, including phrases interpreted as accusations and threats. The footage ends with both men separated by an unidentified third person before the camera angle shifts.

Yu Mong Lung, 37, was officially ruled to have died from injuries sustained in a fall from a high-rise apartment, with authorities citing alcohol intoxication as a contributing factor. The case was closed rapidly as non-criminal. However, the emergence of this video — combined with earlier leaks including airport photos showing injuries, audio of screams, and alleged financial records — has led to widespread calls for the investigation to be reopened.

Han Yuchen, a rising actor known for several popular dramas, has not publicly commented on the footage. His management team issued a brief statement calling the video “taken out of context” and “part of a malicious smear campaign,” but declined to provide further details or confirm the authenticity of the recording. Attempts to reach Han directly were unsuccessful.

Digital-forensics analysts who examined copies of the clip for international outlets confirmed that the timestamp aligns with the night of Yu’s death and that there are no obvious signs of deepfake manipulation in the visible frames, though heavy compression limits definitive verification of facial expressions and audio.

The video has spread rapidly overseas, amassing hundreds of millions of views on platforms such as X, YouTube, and Telegram. The #JusticeForYuMengLong campaign has seen a fresh surge, with the Avaaz petition demanding an independent international forensic review now exceeding 2.5 million signatures. Many petitioners specifically cite the confrontation video as evidence that requires immediate re-examination.

Chinese authorities have not acknowledged the footage. Domestic platforms have removed all related content within minutes of posting, and searches for Yu Menglong, Han Yuchen, or related terms return minimal or unrelated results. The case remains officially closed.

International human rights organizations have urged Beijing to allow independent experts to review all available evidence, including surveillance footage, communication records, and medical files. “When new visual evidence emerges that appears to contradict the official timeline, transparency is essential,” said a Human Rights Watch spokesperson.

Whether the confrontation captured in the video was a simple argument between colleagues or something more significant may never be known if Chinese authorities continue to treat the case as resolved. What is clear is that one leaked clip has transformed a closed domestic matter into an international flashpoint, with millions demanding answers that have so far been withheld.
